Living in Granada was easily the worst time in my life while living in Spain.

I didn’t start off great. I wasn’t that excited to be moving there in the first place because I was leaving a job I really liked and I loved Madrid. But in the greater scheme of things, moving to Granada made the most sense for me and my partner, and I was excited to switch to a different industry.

During the span of a few months, my creative energy dissolved. I went from running a semi-successful travel blog (I had over 25K followers on IG at one point), to not even being able to read travel blog posts because they made me feel guilty for not updating mine.

The source of this burnout was my job. Long story short, I did not like the company culture.

I tried to tough it out, but I ended up quitting after 9 months. The funny thing is, I didn’t know what I was experiencing was burn out. I thought I just wasn’t mentally strong enough to deal with it and beat myself over “giving up”. It didn’t help that people thought I was crazy for leaving a job that seemed good on paper.

But fortunately my fiancé (now husband) fully supported my decision and I moved back to Madrid alone and went back to teaching. While teaching I decided to start La Chispa Studio on the side, before going full time in 2019. I highly doubt I would have had the energy or creativity to start this if I was still working that other job.

The two most important things I learned during that entire experience was:

It’s your life, you get to decide what is and isn’t acceptable to you.

I could have forced myself to stay there to keep other people happy and because it seemed like the logical choice, but I KNOW my mental health would have continued to deteriorate if I had.

There are other opportunities waiting for you.

I really didn’t want to quit until I already had a job lined up, but I couldn’t take it anymore. It took a lot of emails, and time searching, but I was able to secure a temporary position before I eventually got a job in Madrid a few months later.

So far? It’s going pretty well!

I've tried to DIY it many times in the past (I've been a @MyDubsado user since 2018), but finally decided to just hire a pro who will not only do it faster than me but probably a lot better. 😅

Setting this up means I'll be spending less time writing emails and proposals, and more time serving clients, creating content and growing La Chispa Studio. 🥳

I am loving sharing with you tips to make creating video content so much easier. Today I am ready to share the 4th tip in the 5 part series.

The number one complaint I hear about editing video content?

The amount of time it takes to edit a video and how it always takes longer than you think 😒

So my best tip when it comes to editing faster is to set up and FOLLOW an editing workflow.

(Or outsource it to your fave video editor 😉)
⠀
Having a set workflow makes it so much faster because instead of trying to figure it out at that moment, you have a step-by-step "recipe".
⠀
For example:

Step 1: Import clips
Step 2: Create a rough cut
Step 3: Colour grade
Step 4: Adjust audio levels
Step 5: Add music
etc.,
etc.,

Then when you have a new video to edit, you just follow the exact steps again.
